      IDENTITY: Succeeded her father seven days after her birth and was carried to France 1548. She surrendered herself to the confederated Lords at Carberry Hill, 15th June 1567; was sent prisoner to Lochleven Castle, where she made a resignation of her crown, 24th July 1567. She escaped from Lochleven, 2d May 1568, witnessed the defeat of her forces at Langside, 13th May 1568, landed at Workington 16th May 1568, and, after nineteen years captivity, terminated her life by hands of the executioner at Fotheringay, 8th February 1586-7.       BURIAL: Place> Remains removed from Peterborough Cathedral to Westminster Abbey on 11 Oct 1612.
